Boom Beach Attack Strategies

Attacking in Boom Beach is more tactical than it was in Clash of Clans. Here is a run down of the main  offensive units as well as strategies for attacking different base types.

GUNBOAT

The gunboat supports your ground troops. It sits off show and possesses an array of attacking abilities. The missiles are useful for eliminating single targets before you deploy troops, or supporting your troops.

The flare is essential for directing troops to where you want them to go. More often than not, you'll be using flares to direct troops out of the range of defensive units.

The medic pack is great  to buy your troops a few extra seconds if they are taking heavy fire.

The shock bomb is a great addition when you unlock it. It stuns several buildings at one. Fire to into the middle of a set of defensive weapons, to buy valuable attack time, or combine with flares to sneak by and move out of range.

TROOPS

Riflemen

In sheer numbers, riflemen can take out anything. Combine with flares, shock bombs and medic units to take out defensive buildings, leaving the bad open for them to complete the job.

Heavy

The heavy has high health and can soak up enemy fire, allowing other troops to take out defenses. The big gun in the picture looks great, but in reality they don't do much damage, so they are used best as shields for riflemen or zookas. An army entirely made up of heavies can be focused on the HQ without needing to take out defensive buildings first. It's an expensive strategy though!

Zookas

Zookas provide high damage, but at a cost of low health. They are easily taken out if not covered well by heavies. The combine well with heavies. Lots of players use armies made up of zookas and heavies.

Warrior

Warriors move quickly and when used with smoke screens can sneak through to the HQ quickly and steal a win. Use them with shock bombs to keep the defenses turned off.

Tanks

Tanks are slow moving but are a lot of defensive units that can cause major damage to them. Spread them out and take advantage of their long range fire power. Combine them with medics to keep them healthy. Some defensive units cause double damage to tanks though. They do well against snipers and machine guns.

Medic

Medics will follow troops and keep replenishing their health. Use medics whenever you can. They are will worth the unit space that they take up.

STRATEGIES AND TIPS

Heavy Shield

Using high health units like heavies out in front of riflemen or zookas is a great low level strategy. The heavies will soak up enemy fire and allow you back up units to dish out damage.

Sneak Attack

Look for badly laid out bases that allow the use of flares to direct troops around defensive units just out of their range. This is a great tactic when you are new to the game and don't have shock bombs or some screens. Shock bombs add to this tactic. You can stand I the trees at the back of the map too. This is the most cost effective strategy.

Rushing

Direct warriors to the HQ with the use of flares. You'll need to use shock bombs to make this worthwhile

Boom Beach - General Tips and Strategy

Boom Beach is the newest hit from the makers of Clash of Clans. The two games have a lot of similarities and a few significant differences too. This guide will help beginners and Clash of Clans veterans quickly understand the best strategies to successfully storm the beach!

HEADQUARTERS

The headquarters in Boom Beach represents the be all and end all of each battle. If you destroy the headquarters, you win. Otherwise, you lose! It's that simple.......

Any troops left over from your battle return to your inventory and can be reused immediately.

ATTACKING AND OFFENSIVE STRATEGIES

The single most important element to attacking other bases in Boom Beach is the ability to scout the enemy's base. Never attack a base without scouting first. You should scout to understand the range if all weapons and figure out the best path around them. You'll use flares to navigate around the defensive weapons.

Flares are another wonderful element to this game, allowing player to deploy troops where they need to go, rather than watching then blindly charge towards the nearest target when the one next to it is picking them off with ease.

Your gunship provides long range back up to your troops on the ground. It deploys with a set number of tokens that you can spend on missiles, flares, medic lack and more. You receive additional tokens as you destroy buildings, so consider deploying troops to take out the smaller buildings to bolster your gunship's ability to fire in long range artillery.

Your gunship can also blow up mines.

Multiplayer base attacks should only follow careful scouting of the base first. Bases with defensive buildings out front can be easily defeated by using flares to send you troops to the back of the base, into the trees if necessary, and out of range of the defensive fire.

TROOPS

Riflemen

Use riflemen to overwhelm in numbers. They are cheap to deply and can quickly swarm a target, especially when combined with flares. They are especially effective against slow rate weapons, like mortars and cannons.

Heavies

Heavies can soak up defensive fire and protect your weaker troops. They don't cause much damage, so use them to protect your other troops rather tha. To take out buildings.

Zookas

Zookas fire long range but have very limited health, so keep them safe from enemy fire. Used correctly, they can dole out massive damage. Otherwise, they will be taken care of easily by the enemy.

BASE LAYOUT

Building up your base is just as important as attacking and plundering enemy resources.

Your headquarters is the jewel in your crown. Protecting it is not as easy as it might seem. Surrounding it with defensive buildings, allows your enemy to build up tokens while taking out your other buildings unopposed. Placing defensive buildings along the beach, leaves you very vulnerable from the back of the island.

Watch replays of attacks on your base, to see what worked and what didn't. It's also a great way to learn how to defeat other bases.

Your vault will protect a percentage of your resources. Keep is upgraded, as much as you can.
